bob kept getting up and looking out the window of the motel room.
it was dark outside.
cindy was lying on the one bed, wishing she had a comic book or a romance novel to read or some gum to chew.
you know, cindy finally said, if there is anybody out there, and you keep pulling the shade back like that, they are going to see it and figure someone is in here and is afraid of being found out,
you are right, bob agreed. maybe we should turn the light out.
that would be kind of creepy, but go ahead.
the only light was from a little lamp on the nightstand beside the bed.
there was a gideon bible in the top drawer of the nightstand, but neither bob nor cindy knew it was there, or would have cared if they had known.
o k, turn the light off, bob said.
cindy reached over and turned the light off.
bob carefully pulled the shade back and looked out the window again.
he thought he saw something but could not be sure.
